LOCATION
Phan Rang
is the capital city of the Ninh Thuan Province area. It is set in the heart of the tourist triangle of Dalat, Nha Trang and Mui ne/ Phan Thiet. Each of those surrounding cities are approximately 2 hours drive away.
The city is not known as being a tourist destination therefore it is much quieter than most other cities in Vietnam. However the kitesurfing in the surrounding area is sublime and of the handful of tourists that you do happen to see or meet as you’re wandering around the chances are that they are here for the same reason as yourself and that is the amazing winds and unspoilt landscape that this location has to offer.
Technically speaking the main kite spots are My Hoa & Ninh Chu Bay but as the closest major city is Phan Rang then this is how the whole area is commonly known as amongst the kitesurfing community.
MY HOA
My Hoa lagoon is a kitesurfing heaven, the spot has everything to cater for the beginner, intermediate and advanced rider, even entry level up to experienced wave riders have an awesome time here. Many visitors have said its probably one of the best places they have ever kited, it for sure is the best place to kitesurf in Vietnam. There is a spacious shallow flat water lagoon that leads up-to a natural coral reef break that creates some epic waves rolling in from the left and right side. There are some onsite kite clubs that offers lessons, rental and storage as well as compressor pump, beach boy assistance, showers, toilets, bar, restaurant, wifi and hammocks to ensure your stay there all the more pleasurable. NINH CHU BAY – NCB Beach bar & club
Conveniently located just a few kilometers from the main hotels and guesthouse in Phan Rang this spot is used mainly in the low season starting around mid to late March. It has been the host location for Asia’s largest kitesurfing competition the Kiteboard Tour Asia (KTA) as well as the very first CR:X convertible race event by the Neil Pryde group. Its a private bay and is shallow at the front with some small kicker waves leading into deeper waters around 100m from the shore line. This is fast becoming a little known hotspot In SE Asia with the growing number of local expats coming down from HCMC most weekends. Originally built as a Seafood restaurant the NCB beach bar and club has now adopted the sport of kitesurfing and offer all the usual facilities such as storage, lessons, rental, compressor, wifi, showers toilets and restaurant to name but a few. They also have SUP’s for you to rent.
